    Vascular Clinic

    PROCEDURES:

    • Non-Invasive Lower Extremity Arterial Study performed with and without exercise.
    • Ankle/Brachial Indexes
    • Utilizing Calibrated Duel channel Pulse Volume Recordings and Duel Channel Photoplethysmography. (PVR and PPG's)

    EQUIPMENT:

    • Unetixs Multilab with 8MHz Bi-directional Doppler Probe and a 5 MHz Bi-directional Doppler Probe

    WHEN AND WHERE:

    • Tuesday and Thursday, FMO 8:00am-4:00pm

    CLOTHING:

    • We prefer the patients wear shorts. No pantyhose please. Be comfortable.

    HOW LONG WILL THIS TAKE?:

    • Generally, 45 minutes to 1 hour. This is all dependent on the patients extent of disease and if the exercise component is utilized.

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF PROCEDURE:

    • Blood Pressure Cuffs are attached to both ankles, calves, thighs and arms. Pulse Volume recordings and pressers are measured and calculated. The data is then printed and interpreted by one of our Vascular Interventionalists.

    WHY WOULD I HAVE THIS TEST PERFORMED?:

    • If you have any risk factors for PVD(Peripheral Vascular Disease). These include:
      • Aching, Cramping or pain in your legs with or without exercise
      • Pain in your toes or feet at night
      • Any history of smoking or if you currently smoke
      • A history of Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Heart Attack, Coronary Artery Disease, or Strokes and or a family history for any of these
      • Overweight
      • Inactive lifestyle
